Today, the United States Marine Corps celebrates is 239th year. I feel proud that I can claim the honor of being one of the few, the proud - you are never a former Marine, its once a Marine, always a Marine. My time was September 1981 through September 1986. I enthusiastically served my time and feel satisfied that I started my life right after high school doing something extraordinary and worthwhile. It is a title not all have the privilege of holding. Having said that, I will note also that I served my time during a period where there were no conflicts or wars going on. I did serve my country but I don't hold myself in the same category as those who have served during times of combat. I stand proud, yet humbled by my fellow Marines and other service men and women who served before and after me during times of war, some making it home and some not, to make our country and sometimes other counties, a better place to live. Ooh-rah and Semper Fi! Happy Birthday!
